Every person has at least one passion in their life, even if they do not know it yet. My experience is that when you are living your passion things happen with ease. You enjoy what you are doing. You’re in flow. It’s like the universe is supporting you in every possible way and with every step you take. People who have turned their passion into their career are generally very happy people.

A Passion for Jazz

Next month it is time again for the annual North Sea Jazz festival. This year I will attend the festival for the 7th or 8th time and it always fascinates me that most of the jazz musicians, playing at the festival, enjoy themselves so much that playing jazz is more than just a job for them. They are having a blast! Playing jazz is their passion. If they would not get paid for it, they would play anyway. This kind of passion is not only fun to watch but also contagious. After these three days of jazz I always feel energized and regenerated. Ready to face anything!

One of my all time funniest lyrics is “Isn’t it ironic” by Alanis Morissette: “Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you”. Those lyrics remind me of the fact that nothing remains the same and life is all about change. You can either resist it of embrace it. Grieve over something lost or go with the flow and make the best of it. Or in the words of my favorite quote: “Get busy living, or get busy dying”.

What is quality time?

While defining the priorities for Quality Time is relatively easy, the persons or things you are passionate about, finding the time to spend that Quality Time is not (at least for most of us). Why is that? Are we too busy in life: too much to do, too little time? And could it be that our priorities do not match the things we are passionate about?
