When people talk about personal development they often say they want to improve things like self-confidence, communication skills or how to set goals efficiently. But what is often overlooked is being able to listen to others, empathic listening; listening to truly understand.

Have you ever played a role in your life? Like me, most likely you did; whether it was consciously or unconsciously. Human beings are great actors and play roles all the time. We are the actors in our own lives: Acting to be funny, acting to be tough, and acting to be liked by others. But meanwhile we forget to play the one role that really matters: Being our true self, being our authentic self.

The importance of sleep

This lack of sleep reminded me today of the importance sleep has on our body and mind. On this blog I frequently post articles on personal development and communication; but without enough sleep or rest, even the best personal development technique will not work. With the help of several cups of coffee I was able create 10 suggestions, based on personal experience, on the importance of sleep.

The Skilled Facilitator

I am a facilitator/coordinator and had the privilege to attend The Skilled Facilitator Intensive Workshop in June '08. This was just a couple of months before the financial crisis hit Wall Street and all the other markets around the globe. Would I have tried to sign-up for this training a couple of months later, my company would have asked if I've gone mad and never allowed me to travel from Europe all the way to Austin, TX.
